Bhutan is the smallest country in South Asia with a population of around 6 million. Bhutan boasts of rich natural biodiversity and cultural heritage. It’s topography is mainly mountains although a little strip of land to the south is also touched by flat land. There are many high Himalayan peaks in Bhutan. Bhutanese are deeply associated with their age-long customs and festivals. The major festivals of Bhutan include: Dromche, Jambay Lhakhang Drup, Paro Festival and Thimpu Festival.
Besides festivals and rituals, Bhutan offers numerous opportunities for trekking and mountaineering into its pristine wilderness. Thimpu, the capital of Bhutan is one of the larger towns in Bhutan and the starting point of every trek. |
